Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) is set to revolutionise its operations, partnering with global Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider TechnologyOne to enable faster, more informed financial decisions and in turn enhance service delivery to the county’s 900,000 residents.

Each year, CFRS mobilises its crew of over 400 highly trained firefighters across 27 fire stations to attend around 1,600 fires, 400 road traffic collisions and 1,400 ‘special service’ incidents, which can include animal rescues, chemical spills, and water rescues.

Implementing TechnologyOne’s comprehensive Financials solution, which also includes Supply Chain Management, will support the strategic procurement and asset replenishment decisions for CFRS’ fleet of 41 fire engines, as well as numerous other specialist vehicles and equipment.

CFRS Deputy Chief Executive, Matthew Warren, said: “Our fire stations vary in status from being staffed 24/7, 365 days a year, to being completely on-call, where firefighters go about their normal lives and respond to an alerter when a 999 call comes in for that area. As a smaller rural fire service with a tight budget, it is always a juggling act to prioritise areas for improvement.”

“We have partnered with TechnologyOne to futureproof our services. By implementing a single solution that unites our financial processes, we can make faster, more informed decisions and stretch our budget appropriately to ensure we are providing the best possible coverage to residents.”

TechnologyOne UK Executive Vice President, Leo Hanna, said: “With constant regulatory and compliance changes, it’s easy to get caught up in siloed data, disparate systems and tedious manual processes. Our SaaS solutions are tailored to meet the unique needs of essential services and local authorities, providing an integrated structure to manage all financial information in real-time, allowing for enhanced efficiency, transparency, and overall service delivery, all the while lowering their costs.”

“CFRS’s decision to embrace innovation for the benefit of their community is an admirable effort amidst their ongoing work safeguarding the lives of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough residents. We are thrilled to partner with them on their journey toward digital excellence.”

CFRS is the latest Cambridgeshire authority to partner with TechnologyOne, joining Cambridge City Council, South Cambridgeshire District Council, and Huntingdonshire District Council in implementing SaaS solutions. TechnologyOne also partners with the UK’s leading higher education institutions including the University of Cambridge.
