Worcestershire County Council will transform and automate its internal processes to reduce costs and provide a more streamlined service for employees and residents, leveraging a new generation of technology in partnership with global ERP provider TechnologyOne.
Worcestershire will implement TechnologyOne’s OneCouncil using its unique SaaS+ approach, which creates a shared incentive to get systems implemented and delivering value through a commercial model that does not charge for core implementation services.
Encompassing TechnologyOne’s Financials, Supply Chain Management and Enterprise Cash Receipting, the new system will empower the council with access to real-time data to optimise management of its £1.147m budget.
The decision to replace its current financial system forms a key part of Worcestershire County Council’s digital transformation strategy designed to meet the evolving demands of this vibrant, diverse and modern county.
Worcestershire County Council’s Chief Financial Officer, Phil Rook, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with TechnologyOne to implement our brand-new finance system that will be used by employees across the council to streamline services and reduce costs for our residents.”
The partnership builds on TechnologyOne‘s rapid expansion in the UK local government sector, achieving a fourfold increase in council uptake year-on-year. The company recently secured a milestone partnership with London Borough Islington Council, as well as its first metropolitan council, North Tyneside.
West Lindsey District Council was able to identify a budget shortfall of £150,000 using TechnologyOne Financials. It leveraged the forecasting tool to redistribute its spending to ensure it could fulfil vital community programs like the Disabled Facilities Grant. More recently another UK council identified over £900,000 worth of revenue-generating and saving opportunities using the same tool.
Ben Malpass, Executive Vice President for Local Government at TechnologyOne, said: “In choosing to optimise and streamline processes at a time when councils across the country are having to do more with less, Worcestershire County Council has been clear in its priority to deliver the best possible service to its community, opting to innovate and harness industry-leading solutions.
“We’re excited to support Worcestershire County Council to achieve this objective, understanding that the Council delivers a wide range of services that touch the lives of its community on a daily basis. Designed with the specific challenges faced on a council level, our futureproofed platform is responsive to the ongoing needs and demands of local government while enabling much needed efficiency savings.”
TechnologyOne partners with unitary authorities and district councils across the United Kingdom, including Blackpool Council, Conwy County Borough Council and Derby City Council.
